Courses

Our courses are categorized into three levels, each builds on the previous level and yet they are capable of functioning independently.

Primary School: Yiquan

Master Wang Xiang Zhai modified the traditional Xingyi Quan and created Yiquan. Master Wang attempted to extract the essence of traditional Xingyi by focusing on profound stance training. We feel the stance training is essential to build the foundation of any new students and hence, we adopt Yiquan in the primary school syllabus.

The Yiquan syllabus is as follow:

1) The Eight Basic Stance

2) Two Diagonal Stance for combat use

3) Subduing the Tiger and Restraining the Dragon Stances

4) The Kneading Steps

5) The Twelve Techniques

6) Power Testing

7) Freestyle Shadow Boxing

 Secondary School: Xingyi Quan

Xingyi Quan is originated from the Shanxi Province of China, close to the border that adjoins Mongolia. This is an area open to attacks from all directions, martial artists here faced constant threat of mounted bandit and calvarymen. Battles after battles, they gradually concluded their experience and collectively designed Xingyi Quan. This  is an art based on simple spear technqiues, hence there is no fancy moves. Every motion is practiced as it would be used and the Xingyi School is known to produce some of the most ferocious fighters in history.

The Xingyi Quan syllabus builds on the Yiquan syllabus and is as follow:

1) The Santi ("Three Bodies") Stance (For Sci-Fi novel and Netflix fans: No, it is not a problem!)

2) The Old Three Fist

3) The Five Element Fist

4) Five Elements Linking Fist Form

5) The Twelve Animal Forms

6) White and Black Falcon Spear and the Five Element Spear

University: Bagua Zhang

Bagua Zhang is the rarest of the "Big Three" internal martial arts and the hardest to learn. It was first taught by Master Dong Hai Chuan at around 150 years ago in the Ching Dynasty Imperial Court. The origin of this art is somewhat clouded as Master Dong would only claim that he learnt it from a Daoist hermit in the mountain. Bagua contains many circular movements and the basic training method is Circle Walking followed by multi directional striking techniques.

The Bagua Zhang syllabus builds on the foundation of the previous two syllabus and contains Cheng Style, passed down by Master Han, and Ma Gui Style, passed down by Master Yu Zhi Ming and Master Liu Wan Chuen. The syllabus is as follow:

1) The Bear Form

2) The Dragon Form

3) The Crab Form

4) The Yin Yang Fish Form

5) The Lion Form

6) The Eagle Form

7) The Single Hook Form

8) The Heaven and Earth Form

9) Weapons Form including the Deerborn Knife and Broadsword

On Special Request: Taichi

Our Taichi course is highly demanding. Real Taichi motions require generating torque with profound muscle tissues, extreme aerobic and anaerobic capability, strenuous body structure, supple joints and deep understanding of how internal martial arts function. Typically, it would take at least five years of basic training before students are invited to start Taichi training.

The Taichi syllabus works on the Yeung Style Long Fist Thirteen Moves as taught by Sifu Young. He remains low profile and largely unheard of in the West. Taichi can also be practiced for health or meditation purpose. Students who are interested in this aspect will be taught the Chan Style New Form.
